The Vitality Series

Where is your Vitality now?

First, it is important for you to understand that you never actually lost your Vitality. Your vitality is intact and always has been, you have just become less and less efficient in your usage of it.

When you are a child, your attention is completely focused on what you are doing. You are present to the moment you are living and there is joy, because your entire focus is unified with the experience you are having. Every day yields something new and your life is exciting.

As we begin to grow up, our minds become split. Perhaps we are playing in our garden, but a part of our attention is also on worrying about some other aspect of our lives; our children's welfare, how we are perceived at work, if we are well liked by our friends, etc.

When this occurs, we are then split in two, living two half-lives instead of one glorious life. In order to continue gardening while we worry, we put the movements of our gardening on automatic pilot. What was once a miraculous experience of bringing plants to life becomes a chore, an automatic routine.

And it doesn't stop here, we build an entire identity and life around our worries and concerns. Most people are not just split in two, but into a thousand different pieces. Their life and mental state becomes very complicated and they are tired and stressed all the time. The accumulation of this stress is what we call aging, but it doesn't have to be that way.
